I spent two weekends building a custom admin dashboard in Next.js to manage my content calendar, product pricing, and revenue tracking. It looked great. I used it for about a week.
The problem was not the code, it was the friction of opening a separate app, waiting for a deploy to change a field, and not having mobile access without extra work. Notion already solved all three.
I moved everything back into Creator OS, my Notion system. The custom dashboard is shelved, not deleted, once the business has needs Notion genuinely cannot meet, I will revisit it. For now, boring and fast beats custom and slow.
